Conservation Housing & Display Workshop

On this course, we learned ways to accurately measure an object and determine safe opening angles & create appropriate support for display by making various boxes and cradles using sustainable, archival materials.

Box-making

• 4-flap box

• Phase box

• Book shoe, with textblock support

• Drop spine box with 3 walls and 5 walls

• Fitted lid box

Book cradles

• Closed book cradle, for binding display

• Open book cradle, flat or at a raised angle
